MAY THEME: BIRTH YOURSELF ANEW
by
Simone Butler
Spring is the season of birth. Even more so this year, with Pluto
at the Galactic Center transmitting powerful energies of transformation.
Like snakes, we're shedding our old skins to reveal fresh life underneath.
As we approach the "end of time as we know it" in 2012 foretold
by the Mayan Calendar, the Earth itself is undergoing an unprecedented
death-and-rebirth process. You may be sensing changes in your body-feelings
of frustration, heaviness or overwhelm. You're pregnant, full to
bursting with something-yet perhaps unsure of what. Rather than
fear this feeling, embrace it. You're about to give birth, a process
that's intensely pleasurable when you surrender to it. Some women
find birthing a baby as ecstatic as sex.
Beltane, the ancient pagan fertility rite of May 1, begins the birthing
process, which culminates at the Taurus/Scorpio full moon of May
12 (11:51 pm, PDT). Taurus represents the body and the earth. Its
natural polarity, Scorpio, symbolizes sexuality and transformation.
Together, they form the axis of magic: Scorpio conjures and Taurus
manifests. Whatever area of your chart this full moon triggers shows
where something is coming to fruition for you (if you don't know,
ask your intuition or contact me for a Quickie reading.)
The energy will build the week leading up to the full moon, so be
receptive. You may even want to stay up till midnight on the 12th
and howl at the moon! With all the birthing energies afoot, it's
synchronistic that this full moon happens on the Mother's Day weekend.
This will be a poignant holiday for me, the first since my mother's
passing. Last Mother's Day, just before she went into the hospice,
my sister and I serenaded her with one of her childhood favorites,
"Climb, Climb Up Sunshine Mountain." She clapped along as best she
could. It was the last time I saw her smile.
The Mother Goddess is definitely showing her face this month. Jupiter
in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces (powerful planets in feminine water
signs) make a harmonious trine to each other, facilitating spiritual
guidance and breakthroughs. On May 19, The Da Vinci Code movie premiers.
Bookstores are brimming with a new soft-cover edition of the book
in anticipation of renewed interest. Director Ron Howard promised
he would stick closely to Dan Brown's novel, which tells a story
of Mary Magdalen that restores the Sacred Feminine to her rightful
place of power.
The Mayan Calendar, a timeline of the evolution of consciousness,
marks an outpouring of Sacred Feminine energy on May 27-28. This
is the midpoint of the Fourth Night of the Galactic Underworld,
a "preview" of what's coming in 2007 with the influx of light on
the collective right (feminine, intuitive) brain. At the Fifth Day,
a one-year period beginning on Nov. 24, 2006, the Christ-like consciousness
of Quetzalcoatl returns, making it much easier to merge with our
higher selves. This period corresponds, in earlier days, with the
time of Jesus and the Renaissance. Dr. Carl Calleman has called
for a Breakthrough Celebration to mark the midpoint on May 27-28.
So, pull yourself out of the doldrums and revel in nature during
the sensual season of Spring. Let the Great Mother assist you to
birth yourself anew and love yourself deeply. Staying centered in
the ecstatic frequencies of the heart is the key to navigating the
accelerating evolutionary changes with grace and ease.
