MAY THEME: MUD MAGIC
by Simone Butler
"If you had one
goal, and that was to feel good, you would live successfully and
happily, fulfilling your life's purpose ever after." ---Abraham/Hicks
Up to my elbows
in mud one fine New Mexico day, I had an epiphany. A feeling of
bliss shot through my body as heaven and earth joined in me. Helping
to build an adobe wall, I had somehow tapped into the higher realms.
Do you remember
blissfully playing in the mud as a child? Well, it turns out it
was actually good for you! Dirt is a natural antidepressant.
New
research shows that friendly bacteria in the soil actually boost
serotonin levels that make us happy. Yet in this culture we avoid
getting dirty like the plague. Could there be a correlation between
our germ-phobic, sanitized ways and our neglect of the Earth Mother
herself?
Now that the Sun
is in the sensual earth sign of Taurus, it's time to honor nature
and the body. In Taurus we let our senses reign and engage the physical
pleasures through taste, smell and touch. This Venus-ruled sign
urges us to slow down and commune with the beauty around us.
The Sun's union
with the Moon on May 16 occurs in square to nebulous Neptune. That
magical planet is potent all month as it slows down to turn retrograde
on the 24th. Spirit is working in mysterious ways. It can
bring you what your heart desires, if you don't succumb to fear
and despair. Yes, scary things are happening on the planet as the
evolution of consciousness picks up its pace.
The high frequencies
of change may cause some of us to act in crazy ways. But it's also
a time of liberation in which the Earth Mother is shaking off her
shackles. This will be particularly true around May 11, as mighty
Jupiter squares chaotic Uranus in visionary Pisces. It's an invitation
to wake up and change things. Decide what's calling for change
in your life or the world at large. Then, be ready at the New
Moon to take a step in that direction.
The New Moon
in Taurus is the "creator moon" because creation springs from pleasure:
the pleasure of imagining and attracting what we want. To create
something, you must feel yourself inside it, experiencing it fully.
Imagine the feeling of your true love's kiss on your neck as you
awaken, and inevitably that person will appear in the flesh. Or,
follow my lead and imagine awakening together inside the elegant,
earthen eco-home that you built together to honor your love and
the Earth.
At this New Moon,
remember you are a co-creator with Spirit and harness Neptune's
imaginative, intuitive powers to dream up something divine. Create
something just for the fun of it, without any agendas. Try Abraham's
lighthearted technique in Ask and it is Given: "Wouldn't it be nice
if…I finished my work in time to go for a hike?" Or, "Wouldn't it
be nice if…my mate and I got along really well today?" Or even,
"Wouldn't it be nice if… I won the lottery?"
Neptune is a watery
energy; mixed with earthy Taurus, it produces mud. Why not celebrate
with a mud bath at a local hot springs? Creation can be nearly
effortless now. Make art, plant a garden, launch a money-making
project, build an earthen home, visualize world peace. Dream it!
Feel it! It can be yours.
Also, let's show
support for Mother Earth and her creatures, by joining with like-minded
people in parks and other public places on Mother's Day, May 13
at 1 pm. The plan is to stand in silence for five minutes and collectively
imagine a safe, peaceful world. For details, visit http://www.standingwomen.org
