OCTOBER
THEME: TAKE YOUR TIME
by Simone Butler
We've just
come through a power-packed weekend (Sept. 22-24) that kicked open
a new energetic portal. And, most of us are scrambling to figure
out what it means. I couldn't wait to see what the combination of
a solar eclipse, the Fall Equinox and Jupiter (consciousness) square
Neptune (spirit) would bring. The early report: it's an initiation
into sacred time as an expression of self-love.
Few of us,
myself included, claim our time as holy. On Sunday I awoke with
a sense of urgency because I'd promised to be in Balboa Park that
morning to help build a cob (earth, sand and straw) bench as an
art installation. Having felt rushed all weekend, I was determined
to stop the tyranny of time. Breathing deeply, I answered emails,
washed the car, picked up a latte on the drive down and arrived
late but relaxed and energetic. It was a great day because I honored
my timing.
Staying in
the present, timeless moment is one way to love yourself more-especially
now that time is accelerating as we approach the Mayan Calendar's
deadline for creation in 2012. The soul-stifling sense of having
too much to do, and not enough time to do it, stems from our culture's
addiction to doing instead of being. Eckhart Tolle, in an interview
in the Oct. 2006 Science of Mind Magazine, says that most people
treat the present moment as if it were an obstacle to be overcome,
instead of the essence of life itself.
In his latest
book, The New Earth, he speaks of a shift brought about by attuning
to "space consciousness," or the awareness of being aware. Said
Tolle in the interview, "As human beings awaken from the dream of
identification with form, consciousness can begin to create form
without losing itself in it."
Recently, when
I was in Sedona, some friends and I made a pilgrimage to Living
Springs in Oak Creek Canyon. At this gorgeous spot by the river,
we did a ceremony honoring the flow of magical time while releasing
our attachment to mechanical time. To emphasize this shift, I
buried my old, broken watch. This doesn't mean I won't check
my cell phone occasionally to see what time it is. However, I am
committed to staying in the present moment as much as possible because
it feels so much better when I do.
The energetic
portal to cosmic time will open even further on November 24, as
Jupiter moves into its home sign of Sagittarius and the Fifth Day
of the Mayan Calendar dawns. This sets the stage for a much more
expanded experience of consciousness to occur, including the activation
of the Twin Flame template and reunion of many with their "other
half." More on this exciting shift next month.
Meanwhile,
we have my all-time favorite holiday - Halloween, called Samhain
(pronounced Sah-wen) by my ancestors, the Celts. For them, this
sacred turning point began the New Year. At this time, those who
have passed seek connection with us, the living. This Samhain season
is extra potent, as Jupiter sweeps through the final degrees of
Scorpio in October and November. The planet of truth in the sign
of death and rebirth is all about cleansing. Jupiter has been traveling
through Scorpio since last October, exposing violations of power
and bringing toxic patterns to light, in our selves and the world.
As Jupiter locks into a square to reality-based Saturn all of October,
this process comes to a head.
With Mars,
Venus and the Sun in Libra the first three-quarters of October,
relationships are in high focus for many. Finding the sense of internal
balance that Libra craves might mean letting go of an attachment
that's outlasted its usefulness. Or, investing new power in one
you've neglected. Note to lovers: Mars and Venus conjoin in steamy
Scorpio on Oct. 24, making that a prime date for passion.
If you're going
through rough times, call on your ancestors-they've been
waiting for an opportunity to help. Place Grandma's picture in a
prominent place and ask for her aid in creating a more loving home.
Or, ask Grandpa to give you more courage. Light candles in their
honor, especially at Samhain, and you may be amazed at the response!
